Question: A family friend asked: If there are no shortcuts in the Path of Salvation, why did Jesus tell the criminal who was crucified with him: “Today you shall be with me in Paradise?”

God’s answer:

On this day (The Day of Salvation), you shall be with me in Paradise (you are saved).

Meaning: 'Today' should not be taken literally. ‘Today’ means ‘on this day. To paraphrase: This is the day of Salvation when you are saved.

Then God reiterated:

The Road less Traveled
There are no shortcuts

Question: What did the story and your words mean?

God’s answer:

Why is he (a sinner) saved? He believes in Me (faith). He is truly sorry for his sins (sincere repentance) and he desires to be with Me (longing for God)

Question: Please confirm your answer.

God’s answer:

I Am touched.

Meaning: Jesus was moved to mercy by the man.
